Organisational Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Facility/Events Maintenance Unit under the Engineering & Facility Maintenance Section (EFMS) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in the Sector West HQ. The incumbent will report to the Team Leader of the EFMS Sector West Support.

Responsibilities

1. Performs tasks related to construction work and prefabricated container installations in UNIFIL, including but not limited to laying out, framing and finishing of new construction and repair structural metal and woodwork and equipment in establishment. 2. Fabricates, alters, repairs, and maintains walls, sidewalks, floors, bathroom showers, sink counters, partitions, manholes, and other related structures or surfaces and cuts or breaks blocks / bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and or hand tools. 3. Carries out scheduled periodic and emergency maintenance services on installations; performs surveys and ensures the provision of required materials. 4. Monitors the tools/equipment and material inventory. Ensures the use of the materials in the most productive manner. 5. Liaises with relevant unit(s) supervisors for expert advice on maintenance/construction works, and other technicians, as necessary. 6. Performs other functions as assigned by the Unit Supervisor.

Work ExperienceA minimum of three (3) years of practical experience with an organization or a company in general construction/engineering services or facilities maintenance/management is required. Hands-on experience in general maintenance tasks (carpentry, plumbing, masonry) is desirable.

LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required.
