Duties andResponsibilities

Assist in administering UNRWA Security solutions, including:

  •  Agency-Wide Firewall gateways, VPNs, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS);
  •  Security monitoring and management systems;
  •  Internet content filtering services;
  •  Establishing and maintaining an inventory of hardware and software items related to the security services;
  •  Web Application security
  •  Developing network documentation of security architecture;
  •  Researching new trends in Security platforms to recommend suitable direction considering the latest developments in the field;
  •  Providing second-level technical support for relevant staff on issues related to cybersecurity;
  •  Creating awareness across users and technical teams on security by design and by default.
  •  Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skillsAcademic Qualifications: A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines; Experience:

  •  A minimum of 2 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year for a master’s degree in IT Operations, Network Engineering, Security, or related experience.
  •  Varied experience working with security applications such as anti-virus, firewalls, IDS, etc.;
  •  Exposure and experience working with security applications such as firewalls, anti-virus, and patch management;
  •  Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux OS, and Network Equipment (switches and firewalls)
  •  A thorough understanding of how applications communicate over the network using source and destination IP addresses, ports, and protocols;
  •  Excellent aptitude for process and methodologies related to cybersecurity protection, detection, and response and an understanding of applied security concepts and best practices;
  •  Able to assist in the development of vulnerability management processes and workflows;
  •  Basic knowledge of application security and cloud/mobile security is a plus; DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  •  Information Security related certifications issued by Cisco, ISACA, or ISC2;
  •  Previous experience with Web application firewalls.
  •  Previous experience with UNRWA or other UN agencies; Competency:
  •  Applying technical expertise;
  •  Strong ability to drive for results, to manage and deliver against multiple priorities on time;
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written;
  •  Excellent planning and organizing skills;
  •  Flexibility and adaptability. Language: Very Good command in written and spoken Enghlish. Contract Conditions
  •  The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
  •  Remuneration for this consultancy will be on Grade 12 ($1,259.40 USD) and depend on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
  •  The incumbent will be only in Gaza.

Additional InformationUNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking an Information Security Associate to assist in implementing, operating, and maintaining Security hardware, software and solutions Agency-wide. The consultant provides technical and process support and expertise across various information security work efforts, including anti-virus, firewalls, intrusion detection/ prevention systems, VPN, content filtering, reverse proxy solutions, and vulnerability management. The consultant will report administratively and technically to Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza.
