The main objective of FAO country offices, headed by an FAO Representative, is to help governments develop policies, programs and projects to achieve food security and reduce hunger and malnutrition, help develop agricultural, fishing, and forestry sectors and use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. Hierarchical dependency

Under the general supervision of the national project coordinator, the direct supervision of the project technical assistant, the technical advice of the head of the Department of Forests and Climate Change of CONAF or whomever he delegates, and the administrative management of the Regional Technical Specialist.

Field of specialization

The purpose of this or this professional is to work as a Technical Works Inspector (ITO) for the construction works of the Vivero de Vivero regional de Plantas, Remehue, located in the Commune of Osorno, province of Osorno, whose objective is to contribute to the production of native plants for the activities and goals in the Los Lagos Region of the afforestation and revegetation program in communes/prioritized areas (MT4) and the Strengthening of ecological restoration in communes/prioritized areas (Mt5) of the +Bosques project. On the other hand, the professional must support the technical and administrative processes of the works associated with the work to set up the nursery (constructions, infrastructures, basic service facilities), ensuring that the execution of the infrastructures and general activities,

Tasks and responsibilities

Work as a Technical Inspector of Construction Works of the Remehue Regional Plant Production Nursery, located on Ruta U 165 2 km. inland from Ruta 5 Sur to Mulpulmo, Comuna de Osorno.

For the above, the specific objectives to achieve are the following:

  •  Support the administration of works contracts that are established as part of their execution, acting as guarantor of their inspection.
  •  Ensure compliance with all the requirements specified in the technical and administrative background of the works contracts and supervise that they are fully complied with, including current regulations.
  •  Survey, study and analysis of the project and all the bidding bases for it generated and, if necessary, carry out in a timely manner, the necessary technical modifications during the execution of the works, for their successful completion. All of the above in compliance with current regulations.
  •  Permanent support at the place of execution of the works.
  •  Preparation of biweekly works reports, where the progress of the works in execution is recorded, information regarding the supervision of the works is provided, improvements are proposed or any modifications in the work are reported for its proper development.
  •  Preparation of reports with weekly information.
  •  Administration and registration of works book
  •  Support in the technical inspection of minor works at the Chin Chin collection center, located on Calle 27 de Abril s/n, Puerto Montt, being able to attend once a week or when required during this contract.
  •  Verify and report on the progress of works or products for requesting payments and final receipt of works.
  •  Participate in meetings, whether in person or remotely, framed in the progress and inspection of the works.

In general terms, the works to be inspected as the Construction of the Remehue Regional Plant Production Nursery are the following:

  •  Urbanization, which includes drinking water and sewage works, earthworks (including filling), foundations for subsequent installation of containers, gates, interior roads, mainly.
  •  Construction of shade houses, offices, work yard.
  •  Unloading and installation of modules and container warehouses.
  •  Execution of electrical project (according to project prepared by professional)
  •  Installation of greenhouses of 750 m2 approx. (it is purchased from a supplier according to specifications and they are in charge of installing).
  •  Execution of irrigation project for greenhouse and shade areas (according to a project prepared by a professional)

CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

  •  University degree of Construction Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Civil Builder or other professional in the construction field.
  •  Work experience in at least 3 projects performing Technical Works Inspection (ITO), supervisor or quality manager of works.
  •  Work experience and knowledge of construction works carried out in the Los Ríos or Los Lagos region, at least 2 years.
  •  Chilean nationality.
  •  Spanish proficiency (level C).

Selection criteria

  •  Work experience in at least 3 projects performing Technical Works Inspection (ITO), supervisor or quality manager of works.
  •  Work experience and knowledge of construction works carried out in the Los Ríos or Los Lagos region, at least 2 years.
  •  Studies or training related to the quality and/or technical inspection of works, at least 2.
  •  Knowledge and use of Autocad to review and/or modify plans.
