organizational framework

The project “Implementation and strengthening of the sustainable management of Protected Natural Areas” constitutes the pilot phase of the CONANP-FAO collaboration that seeks to contribute to the strengthening of the system of Protected Natural Areas in Mexico. Through this project, specific strengthening mechanisms will be generated in the management and management of Protected Natural Areas for greater sustainable use of natural resources, strengthen the institutional relations of the CONANP and improve processes that allow a direct impact on the effectiveness indicators of management, while building connectivity mechanisms, generating strategic alliances and actions to safeguard biodiversity and natural wealth.

  •  Product 1. Prepared and transferred the proposal to improve the strategic Institutional Capacity (IC) (includes the identification of IC gaps or deficits, areas of opportunity, roadmap and established processes) for the institutional efficiency of the CONANP related to the management of Protected Natural Areas.
  •  Product 2. Generated and consolidated the instruments and mechanisms for strengthening governance and citizen participation in Protected Natural Areas.
  •  Product 3. Prepared and implemented the proposal to increase the ecological representativeness and connectivity of the ecosystems under protection: Incorporation of new ANP, strengthening of existing ones and ADVC certification.
  •  Product 4. Designed, validated and transferred operational processes for the prioritization and efficient, timely and articulated development of strategic projects within the ANP in the territories of project implementation.

Tasks and responsibilities

The main task in charge of the Technician specialized in monitoring environmental procedures and management is to ensure the correct articulation of technical and administrative actions at the territorial level (ANP), using a multidisciplinary approach when triggering actions in favor of the ANP, which They will include topics of conservation, restoration, climate change, social connection, project management, among others. The Technician specialized in monitoring environmental procedures and management will have the following functions:

  •  Review and verify the adequate integration of competent management files to the General Directorate of Regional Operations in the CONANP.
  •  Linkage with actors and instances with which CONANP has participation at the federal, state and municipal level.
  •  Implement and provide follow-up to the work plan in the ANP defined by the CONANP to ensure compliance with the objectives of the projects defined jointly by the institution and the communities.
  •  Technically supervise the field implementation of conservation, restoration, governance, social linkage, environmental regulations, project management actions, among others.
  •  Prepare and present activity reports that comprehensively describe the actions carried out at the ANP level for the implementation and monitoring of projects.
  •  Other tasks that CONANP or FAO require according to their competencies and the needs of the project.

CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

  •  University degree in environmental sciences: biology, administrative sciences, agricultural development, ecology, among other related areas. It is desirable to have a postgraduate degree in related areas.
  •  Minimum experience of 3 years in the execution of field projects related to environmental issues or ANP management and management of multidisciplinary teams.
  •  Working knowledge of Spanish and limited knowledge of English
  •  Mexican nationality.

Technical/functional skills
