Duties and Responsibilities
Support to implementation and management of social protection activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures. Provide specialized project management support to WFP programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures. Support the development of a long-term vision and strategic approach for WFP’s engagement in social protection in Puntland. Contribute to the design and management of a portfolio of social protection programmes that effectively meet food security and nutrition needs Act as a focal point for intervention proposals from cooperating Partners (CPs). Ensure accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work and consistency of information presented to stakeholders Coordinate beneficiary data management platform (SCOPE) to facilitate assistance to beneficiaries guided by existing field level agreements with NGO cooperating partners Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing programme activities In collaboration with the Social Protection Unit at Country Office, assist stakeholders of government to identify and analyze policy problems, and mobilize support and technical expertise for the design and delivery of suitable social protection solutions Coordinate and liaise with stakeholders on identification of innovative programmes and delivery strategies including developing action plans with partners and communities Support and facilitate, and coordinate capacity building initiatives for AO and stakeholders to strengthen skills and competencies to deliver quality social protection activities and results Identify and strengthen social protection programmatic partnerships with relevant Puntland Ministries and stakeholders to improve effective delivery of WFP projects Manage the preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports, and knowledge products for internal and external use that position and strengthen the credibility of WFP as a partner in social protection Ensure the best use of assigned financial resources for achievement of set social protection objectives
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Completion of Secondary School Education. A post-secondary school certificate in the following fields is desirable: International Development Assistance/Affairs, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or any other field relevant to international development assistance . Experience: Six and above years of experience in climate-smart, disaster risk reduction and resilience programs designing, implementation and monitoring, and coordination with government and development actors
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft word.
- Proven experience and ability to work under pressure and independently on technical matters with minimum supervision
- Use tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wider range of individuals.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attentions.
