The National Zero Hunger Strategic Review (NSR) recommendation underlined the importance of partnerships to achieve SDG 2, fostering coordination among the Government of Armenia, donor community, United Nations agencies, beneficiaries, civil society, private sector and the Diaspora. WFP Armenia will pursue strategic partnerships and joint advocacy efforts with all relevant stakeholders aiming to achieve full implementation of its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2019-2025 as well as diversification of donor base and types of partnerships. The WFP Armenia will develop short and long-term approaches through a whole-of-society approach, targeted at strategic partnerships with WFP’s traditional and emerging donors, the Government of Armenia and complementary partnerships with the private sector, Diaspora and the UN agencies.
Given the above, the WFP Armenia has identified a need for hiring a Partnerships Officer who will lead the Partnership and Reporting team and will contribute to the development of new and existing partnerships including private partnerships in order to support the implementation of WFP activities, advocate for the work of WFP, and raise and mobilize resources to support WFP’s efforts to promote food and nutrition security and achieve zero hunger in Armenia by 2030.
The Partnerships Officer will facilitate the work of senior staff to effectively position WFP with public, private and external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP, while supporting member states in the achievement of the SDGs and Zero Hunger and emphasizing WFP’s contributions in this regard. How can you make a difference?
In this position, you will have to:
- Implement the work plan for an assigned area to enable WFP to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships in support of WFP strategic objectives,
- Proactively contribute to diversification of types of partnership, including and not limited to explore opportunities and frameworks/support establishment of triangular partnership approach with host government, other UN Agencies and private sector, including twinning;
- Map existing and new partners in the country and internationally of which interests are aligned to WFP Armenia Country Strategic Plan so to identify new areas in which technical expertise, funding and or generating awareness about WFP Armenia activities in order to stimulate new partnership agreements;
- Gather and present internal and external data/information, using key information systems (e.g. Salesforce, WINGS, WFPGo), to support WFP’s effective positioning vis-à-vis national governments, regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda;
- Support the Country Director with the management of a portfolio of partnerships, soliciting contributions, providing donor stewardship, and analysing results, in order to maximise resources raised; draft quality briefs and proactively highlight strategic issues to senior staff to inform best course of action and nurture partnership growth.
- Collate and analyse data for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on donors and programmes, to enable informed decision-making action planning by senior stakeholders; solicit inputs, including operational updates, from other WFP entities to inform partner audiences on WFP’s programmatic offering
- Support senior managers in the preparation of strategic agreements, joint strategies and MOUs in order to promote the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the national, regional and global agenda and to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP, contribute to ideas and highlight fundraising opportunities to the managers for new strategies to maintain and increase funding from new and traditional donors;
- Support in preparation and provision of regular information to educate new and potential donors on the strategy, design, relevance and impact of WFP programmes, and to advocate the work of WFP in the country;
- Support the preparation of briefing documents for meetings with stakeholders including donors;
- Support in maintenance of effective relationships with representatives of government donors in the country through appropriate channels, and assist in coordination of partnership meetings, and attending where required;
- Coordinate work with other functional units to ensure the flow of information and to align activities ensuring donor visibility and that donor conditions are met;
- Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance, and monitor defined risks;
- Perform other related duties if required.

Education: Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience: At least two (2) years of postgraduate professional experience in supporting projects and operational activities that maintain and develop donor partnerships; proposal writing; experience in developing powerful narratives by using data analysis visualization to enable action-oriented discussions with partners; collating data and drafting resourcing analysis and reporting to donors.
Knowledge & Skills: Training and/or experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other standard WFP software packages and systems. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration. Basic understanding of government strategies.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English and Armenian languages. Working knowledge (level B) of Russian language is desired.
